Fathom5, a technology company dedicated to designing secure infrastructure for AI-powered machines that transform industrial resilience and drive defense innovation, is excited to announce that its patented ARIA technology has been selected for the 2024 National Security Innovation Network (NSIN) Propel Maritime Digital Defense Accelerator. ARIA, a cyber-resilient machinery control architecture, is designed to strengthen machinery end-point defenses against advanced cyber threats. The accelerator program, run by NSIN, part of the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), brings together Department of Defense (DoD) stakeholders, private investors, and startups to accelerate advancements in secure Industrial Control Systems (ICS) for military and commercial applications.
ARIA was developed in response to a growing need for cyber defenses in machinery control systems, especially in the context of Navy ships. Current designs for these systems are vulnerable to specific low-level cyber attacks, which can lead to substantial security risks. ARIA addresses these critical vulnerabilities, offering a new layer of protection to Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems. For the Navy, ARIA’s architecture could be pivotal in enhancing onboard cybersecurity for machinery control endpoints, areas often neglected by traditional cybersecurity tools.
"Our acceptance into the NSIN Propel Maritime Digital Defense Accelerator marks an exciting step forward for ARIA and our mission to bring robust cyber resilience to machinery control systems," said Zac Staples, Founder and CEO of Fathom5. “This accelerator allows us to collaborate with Navy stakeholders and showcase how ARIA can elevate cybersecurity in critical systems. We look forward to demonstrating ARIA’s potential to enhance security onboard ships and beyond.”
Participation in the NSIN accelerator offers Fathom5 the chance to connect with Navy stakeholders and demonstrate ARIA’s capabilities in relevant maritime defense settings. The company’s goal through this program is to secure a pilot test of ARIA within a Navy program, paving the way for integration into the fleet and expanded commercial deployment.
The NSIN Propel accelerator runs from November to February, with both virtual and in-person events, including sessions in Washington, DC.
