Runecast Solutions Ltd., a leading provider of a Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) for AI-powered automation of risk-based vulnerability management, continuous compliance auditing, container security and more efficient ITOM, is pleased to announce the release of Runecast version 6.6, available as SaaS, with a breakthrough in vulnerability scanning technology.
Introducing Runecast SaaS
The release of Runecast version 6.6 makes Runecast SaaS available from the Runecast Customer Portal, allowing for easy deployment and improved visibility into OS security. Runecast SaaS simplifies the deployment process by offloading infrastructure management, maintenance, and security responsibilities to the service provider. Runecast SaaS also simplifies and enhances the OS security process by introducing agentless vulnerability scanning for AWS.
“By eliminating the need to install, update, and troubleshoot agents on individual machines, vulnerability scanning becomes more feasible and efficient, especially in dynamic cloud environments where managing agents can be burdensome,” said Markus Strauss, Chief Product Officer at Runecast. “Agentless vulnerability scanning enables IT teams to focus more on strategic initiatives to drive business continuity and growth.”
Organizations that require fast scalability, enhanced accessibility, and continuous updates should opt for Runecast SaaS. The cloud-based deployment allows for easy scaling of resources, provides accessibility from any location with an internet connection, and automatically delivers regular updates and feature enhancements.
With cost efficiency, fast scalability, enhanced accessibility, continuous updates, and reduced IT burden, Runecast SaaS provides a lightweight, flexible, and innovative solution for today's dynamic business environments.
Agentless Vulnerability Scanning for AWS
The new agentless vulnerability scanning capability for AWS (via Runecas SaaS) offers several key benefits. Organizations can now leverage agentless vulnerability scanning for Amazon EC2 Linux instances in the cloud, eliminating the need for complex infrastructure management, maintenance, and security responsibilities.
“Agentless vulnerability scanning greatly improves visibility into OS security,” added Mr. Strauss. “This scanning method dramatically increases the number of discoverable vulnerabilities to provide a complete understanding of security issues, as they are visible in the standard Runecast dashboards, alerts and reports.”
Using the newly added role-based authentication option for an AWS account makes it more secure and easier to set up. By using role-based authentication options, such as IAM role authentication, users can now perform agentless vulnerability scanning across all their Amazon EC2 Linux instances. Access keys can also be used, but IAM Role Authentication provides stronger protection.
Usability and Content Improvements for Both SaaS and On-Prem
In addition to agentless vulnerability scanning, Runecast SaaS offers several usability and content improvements. For example, an expiring license or a failed scan is now highlighted to ensure that important information is never missed. The ISO 27001 profile has been expanded to include Microsoft Azure audits, and all Ubuntu CVEs dating back to 2020 have been added, to provide users with even more comprehensive security coverage.
“Runecast continues to offer its highly acclaimed on-premises deployment option for organizations in highly regulated industries that must comply with enhanced industry or regional security measures and/or require air-gapped systems,” said Mr. Strauss. “On-premises deployments ensure full control over sensitive data and enable adherence to strict compliance and regulatory requirements.”
In as little as 15 minutes, customers can seamlessly deploy Runecast, to achieve and maintain not only ad-hoc audit readiness but continuous compliance – across their entire infrastructure, from VMware to cloud and containers. With its unrivaled capabilities, Runecast can even operate air-gapped (with offline updates) for maximum security. Runecast aims to revolutionize the way that IT teams think about and approach configuration drift, vulnerability management and compliance.
